We got on the road this morning at 9:20 am after filling the trunk to the brim; our cousin Bob Kelch came over to wish us well and we sure appreciated that. We cranked up the Vette and went on our way without any rain in Peoria or along the way to Chicago and of course we had to stop along I-80 for a latte. We arrived at the Hilton Palmer House about 12:15 pm and were promptly greeted and led to check-in; we checked in and went to our room on the 12th. floor. The Palmer House is a very pleasant old hotel on Monroe St. right in the center of the loop. We immediately went downstairs to find some lunch and walk around the the city, great lunch and a nice walk to Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park, and Millennium Park. Dave and I are going to have a nice dinner tonight and then get some sleep for our start tomorrow.
